The Department of Digital Humanities and Social Studies would like to invite you to the following talk in our DH Colloquium:
Moritz Meckl: »Die Relevanz von Wahrheitsgehalt von KI Einsatz in Werbung«
Abstract
This presentation addresses the ethical implications of using artificial intelligence in advertising, with a particular focus on the role of truthfulness. Given that both AI and advertising frequently involve a degree of truth-bending, it raises the question of whether the integration of AI fundamentally alters the ethical landscape regarding advertisment. The talk will explore possible key factors that influence this assessment and critically evaluate whether the assumption — that AI makes no ethical difference — is valid. To support this analysis, the study incorporates a survey aimed at capturing the attitudes and perceptions of a specific target audience toward advertising practices and truthfullness. This survey will be presented and discussed as part of the session, contributing to a broader discourse on ethics, AI, and consumer engagement.
