The Department of Digital Humanities and Social Studies would like to invite you to the following talk in our DH Colloquium:

Sandra Eydem: »The Human (Rights) in Tech: Looking at Digital Accessibility in Academic Computer Science Education Through the Lens of ‘Human Knowledge’«

The ubiquity of technology implies that the work of computer science professionals has significant implications for human rights - particularly with regards to the accessibility of digital user interfaces, where a notable gap between standards and practice exists. This proposed Master’s thesis assumes that computer science education is embedded within a socio-technical system, shaping the mental models and approaches professionals later use to design such interfaces. Through an exploratory qualitative case study, it seeks to investigate the potential role and influence of academic computer science education, with the aim of highlighting possible avenues for bridging the gap.
