The Department of Digital Humanities and Social Studies would like to invite you to the following talk in our DH Colloquium:

Andreas Wagner: »Future Narratives of Water«

Abstract:

Water extremes, namely floods, droughts and pollution, will be among the primary challenges posed by climate change in the coming years (UN Water, 2020). My PhD research focuses on adaptation and mitigation strategies in response to water extremes as portrayed in fictional literature, particularly climate fiction and youth literature. It aims to answer the question: What are society’s visions for adapting to and mitigating the challenges that climate change poses to the relationship between water and society?
This talk summarizes my literature review on three key areas: the water-related challenges of climate change, computational narrative research, and spatial relations. These insights form the foundation of my research agenda for the coming years.
